Sandburg Women Lead From Start to Finish vs. Eureka JV

The Carl Sandburg College women’s basketball led from wire to wire in a 59-45 victory over Eureka JV on Monday night at John M. Lewis Gymnasium.

KEY MOMENT
The Chargers hit three 3-pointers during a 13-2 stretch in the final 4:40 of the first quarter to take a 19-6 lead. Katie Droste (Biggsville, Ill./West Central) found Hailey Lovetinsky (Overland Park, Kan./Spring Hill) in the left corner for a buzzer-beating trey.

SANDBURG STAR OF THE GAME
Freshman forward Kennedy Jackson (Peoria, Ill./Limestone) was a force inside all game, scoring 13 points on 6-of-9 shooting and pulling in seven rebounds, tying Yvonne Mixon (Galesburg, Ill./Galesburg) for game-high honors. 

OTHER TOP CHARGERS

  • Lovetinsky knocked down four 3s and finished with 16 points to lead all players.
  • Freshman Sophie Whitford (Macomb, Ill./Macomb) drained three treys and scored 11 points.
  • Droste had a team-leading six of Sandburg’s 15 assists.
  • Sophomore guard Danayzia Stuckey (Peoria, Ill./Limestone) forced a team-best six steals.

FOR THE RED DEVILS
Marissa Murphy led Eureka JV with 15 points, and Abby Hahn added 14.

NOTABLES
The Chargers collected 20 steals on the evening. … Sandburg did not commit a foul in the first half.

UP NEXT
The Chargers will travel to face McHenry County at 1 p.m. Saturday in a Region IV matchup.
